WHAT WE BELIEVE:
WE BELIEVE the Bible is the only sufficient and perfect rule of our faith and practice
(2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:21; Matt 24:35; John 5:39)
WE BELIEVE in one God, both infinite and eternal, who has revealed Himself in three
distrinct persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit (Isa 45:21; Deut 6:4; John 1:14; Rev
1:8; John 4:26; 15:26; Matt 28:19)
WE BELIEVE humankind was created innocent but fell from that holy state by voluntary
disobedience (sin) and are under God's just condemnation (Gen 1:27, 31; 3:1-6; Isa 53:6; Rom 1:18; 3:23)
WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ, who is both fully divine and fully human, came to save persons
from the guilt and condemnation of sin, by shedding His blood to atone for the sins of humankind; this being the only payment
for sin God the Father accepts (John 1:29; Acts 4:12; Rom 3:21-26; John 3:14-16; Matt 26:28)
WE BELIEVE when one accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, they become justified
(declared righteous), bringing them into a state of peace and favor with God (Eph 1:7; Rom 5:1)
WE BELIEVE this justification is secured by repentance (the changing of the will
towards God) and faith (complete reliance upon God), trusting in Christ alone for salvation (Acts 2:38; Eph 2:8)
WE BELIEVE God has purposes of grace (unmerited favor) in saving persons, made effective
by giving His Son and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Eph 1:4; John 6:44; 1:12-13; 16:7-11; Eph 2:10; Philippians 2:12-13;
Rom 10:13-16)
WE BELIEVE nothing separates the true believers from God's love, because they are
kept solely by the power of God (Rom 8:35-39; John 10:27-29; 2 Pet 1:3-4; Matt 24:13)
WE BELIEVE the two ordinances (commands) given by Christ are baptism (by immersion
upon the profession of one's faith, done in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), and the Lord's Supper (to commemorate
our Lord's death and our need for His continued nourishment, preceded by baptism) (Matt 3:6:13-17; 28:19-20; Acts 8:36-38;
Rom 6:4; Col 2:12; Mt 26:26-30; Acts 2:41-42; I Cor 11:23-29)
WE BELIEVE the church of Jesus Christ (the invisible church) includes all believers
in Him, and is known only to God. The local church (the visible church) is a group of baptized believers who assemble to observe
the forms, ordinances, and principles of Holy Scripture (Col 1:18; Eph 1:22-23; 2:19-21; I Cor 12:27-28; 1:2)
WE BELIEVE the first day of the week is the Lord' Day, and is set apart for the public
worship of God (John 20:19; Acts 20:7; I Cor 16:1-2)
WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ will come again, will take the church to heaven (the rapture
of the church), but will also come again to judge the nations and fill the earth with His glory and power (Matt 25:25-51;
John 14:3; Acts 1:11; I Thess 4:16-17; 2 Thes 2:3-8; Rev 1:7)
WE BELIEVE there will be a resurrection of the just and the unjust - the just to
reward, and a resurrection of the unjust to judgment and eternal doom (John 5:28-29; Matt 25:31-46; Acts 24:15; I Cor 15:22-24;
24-58; 2 Cor 5:10; Rev 20:11-15)
But furthermore, we believe that becoming a Christian is quite simple. It involves
a decision to realize that one cannot save oneself, that good works will never satisfy as payment for one's sin, to accept
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as an act of faith (Ephesians 2:8-10; Romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23), to trust Christ alone and His
finished work on Calvary's cross, and to freely follow Him for life as one's own choice and personal commitment.
